Teen Social Media Experiences Study

What is the Goal of the Study?

The purpose of this research study is to learn more about experiences that teens may have on social media. We are interested in how often teens have positive and negative experiences on social media and how this may affect mental health. We would like your perspective by completing our survey!

How long?

30 - 45 minutes

Am I Eligible to Participate?

In order to be eligible for this study, you must:

  • be 14-17 years old

  • be fluent in English

  • use social media at least three times a week

You will be compensated $10 for your time taking this survey (Amazon giftcard).

You will also be given the choice to take a second survey in three months, and you will also be compensated $10 for should you chose to participate.

Participation in this study is voluntary!

What Will I Be Doing?

You will be asked to complete a survey that will include some questions about who you are, questions about your community and family, questions about your social media use and experiences, social stressors, social supports, thoughts and behaviors about injuring yourself, and other mental health symptoms via an online link.

If you are eligible, you will read about the study and asked whether you want to participate. 

If you agree to participate, you will then automatically be given the survey to complete. It takes 30-40 minutes. If you cannot take it now, please come back or bookmark the link.
